There are three things you need to do to attend the meeting:

1. Register 

The registration deadline date is September 10, 2015. Go to the registration page, fill in your information, and submit. If you are a newcomer to the meeting, please fill out the form below and submit to Jill Pinto at Contact Jill with any questions.

2. Pay Your Meeting Fee

AMI Meeting participant rate is $895 US, which includes meeting rooms and support equipment, hospitality suite for two nights, Wednesday reception, lunches and breaks on Thursday and Friday, and presenter fees and honoraria, as well as other administrative expenses. Go to the payment page to remit. 

3. Reserve Your Accommodations

All reservations for The Banff Professional Development Centre (PDC) sleeping rooms must be made by individuals. Call in toll free at 800-884-7574 and reference the group name Association for Managers of Innovation (AMI) for discounted room rates. Or use the link to the Reservation Manager for AMI Fall 2015 Meeting. Enter the Group ID 28000 and Password 37011871. Room reservations received after September 18, 2015 may not be eligible for group rates, depending on hotel occupancy. This is Banff's busy season.

All sleeping room rates are CAD. Superior Single or Double guest rooms are available at a discounted rate of $143.00 per night [plus $15.00 Facility Fee per day: includes campus-wide WiFi; phone calls across NA; Fitness & recreation facilities access; parking; library & archives access & borrowing privileges, access to complimentary arts & events], plus taxes. Total Room Night: $174.73. The room rate is available three (3) days prior and three (3) days after group arrival and departure dates subject to availability.  

Many of you have expressed interest in possibly bringing your spouse, significant other or families to Banff.  Banff is one of Canada’s top tourism destinations with a wide range of opportunities for fun and learning for the whole family. For those bringing their families a list of recommended activities in the area will be provided. Also, an arts based workshop will be held for any child (or child at heart) who want to express their story in a creative way. Planning Your Banff Centre Visit:

Wednesday, October 21

  • Digital Storytelling Pre-meeting Workshop 
  • (Group A: 1:00-2:30pm –– Group B: 3:00-4:30pm) 
  • Experience hands-on how digital technologies are used to create compelling stories. Working with the artists in the Digital Studio, you will use green screen and video technologies to create video-based stories you can share with your colleagues back home.
  • Newcomers Orientation (4:30pm) for first time AMI attendees 
  • Welcome Reception and Introductions (6:30pm) including a traditional Smudge Ceremony led by a First Nations Elder. Smudge ceremonies have been used for centuries by indigenous peoples to purify the body, create positive energy and set collective intentions. 
  • Following the reception, the Hospitality Suite will be open for AMI attendees and their guests to come and go until 11:30 pm. Wine/beer and soft beverages will be available while the AMI group gathers and shares ideas gleaned from their time together earlier in the day.

Thursday, October 22

  • Host Welcome to the Banff Kinnear Centre for Creativity & Innovation
  • The Art of Engaging Stories with the Banff Centre’s own radio producer, Dominic Girard
  • AMI Beg, Brag, What If (BBWI) sessions are featured throughout the day
  • Nature Walk & Story in the Woods by Dave Verhulst, Executive Director, Mountain Parks Heritage Interpretation Association (MPHIA).
  • You’re on your own to gather in small groups and dine in The Banff Centre Vistas Dining Room or a local spot.
  • Meet us in "The Club" for an Evening Experience of Improv. Jump up on the stage and practice co-creating stories with the talented improv artists from The Banff Centre. Spouses and significant others are welcome.
  • Following the Improv experience, the Hospitality Suite will be open for AMI attendees and their guests to come and go until 11:30 pm to continue sharing stories and laughs over beer and wine. 

Friday, October 23

  • Storytelling for Innovation hear how a large organization makes use of storytelling to engage with stakeholders and customers and drive innovation.
  • Problem solving session for a local community non-profit, likely the public library
  • AMI Beg, Brag, What if (BBWI) sessions are featured throughout the morning
  • Meeting concludes with a Newcomer’s Fishbowl experience followed by lunch and an opportunity to share and record learnings.
  • 1:30pm meeting closing
