Becoming Students Again: Rethinking and Reimagining with AI
Join us in Boston April 22-24, 2026, for our next in-person meeting.
In a world accelerated by Machine learning algorithms, how can we use human learning to intentionally choose – together, the future we co-create?
“Boston Isn’t Afraid of Generative AI,” so said a 2023 article published in Wired Magazine. City of Boston Chief Information Officer sent guidelines to every city official encouraging them to start using generative AI “to understand their potential.” On the other hand, leaders in New York City, Los Angeles Unified, Seattle, and Baltimore School Districts have raised concerns about AI’s downsides.
Boston and Cambridge have long been at the forefront of artificial intelligence. The roots of AI at MIT trace back to the late 1950s with the founding of the AI Project by John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky. This pioneering group—supported by early funding from the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA)—established MIT as one of the world’s leading centers for AI research and spawned generations of breakthroughs that continue to shape machine learning, robotics, and cognitive science today. The city’s unique ecosystem of universities, research labs, and startups continues to push the boundaries of what AI can do for humanity.
In April 2026, AMI convenes in Cambridge—home to Kendall Square, often called the most innovative square mile on Earth. This one-of-a-kind meeting is being hosted by the students and faculty of Babson College’s AI Generator Lab. It will bring together startups, industry leaders, research institutions, government officials, AI ethicists, and innovation leaders like you.
The gathering will provide a welcoming, positively turbulent environment that invites participants to become students again—relearning, rethinking, and reimagining how AI can shape innovation practice, ensure equity, and support human progress.
A Typical AMI Meeting…
It’s through the collision between those different ideas, those different world views and those different perspectives that people become more original thinkers.
AMI meetings are built around the concept of Positive Turbulence, the idea that by inserting some turbulence into your thinking or your organization, you can create opportunities for ideas to collide and innovation to thrive.
